The crayfish trading center sells nearly 10 billion yuan worth of shrimp annually
On December 4th, the China Crayfish Trading Center of Qianwang Group located in Houhu Management District, Qianjiang City, was bustling with workers sorting and packaging crayfish. It is reported that there are 660 crayfish merchants in the center. Since the beginning of this year, a total of 223000 tons of crayfish have been traded, achieving a production value of 9.82 billion yuan.
Crayfish are ectothermic animals. In winter, due to the withering of aquatic plants, crayfish cannot find a safe and warm habitat, so they stop eating and molting, and their growth slows down. Therefore, in the past, Qianjiang lobsters were only raised in spring and summer seasons, resulting in uneven market consumption.
Under the guidance of the "Ten Rules for Shrimps", on December 23 last year, Hubei Crawfish Industrial Technology Research Institute was inaugurated in Qianjiang. Qianjiang City, together with seven units, including the Institute of Aquatics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Huazhong Agricultural University, and Yangtze University, focused on tackling the core technology of "shrimp in all seasons".
Researchers have created different growth environments for crayfish in different seasons, combined them with different combinations of aquatic plants, water quality control, and feed feeding techniques, and conducted repeated experiments to explore the techniques and laws of raising crayfish throughout the year. At present, the "Four Seasons Shrimp" pond intensive aquaculture model has been developed, and provincial standards are being formulated and improved. The aquaculture area in Qianjiang City has been promoted to 14000 acres; Explore the winter rice field shrimp farming model of 300 acres, and complete the release of shrimp seedlings in late September. The "Four Seasons Shrimp" greenhouse soil pool model has completed the provincial-level local standard application and approval, with a factory breeding area of 2000 square meters and a survival rate of 90% for seedlings.
It is reported that the "Four Seasons Shrimp" aquaculture model produces 200 kilograms of winter shrimp per mu and can reach 800 kilograms throughout the year.
